News for Maitland Middle School
7th Grade Art Students and Parents
Welcome to 7th grade art class. Art is a full semester class. Our |
Rigor of Responsibility
It is the responsibility of the student to listen and pay attention so
that he/she will know the requirements for the assignment and do the work accordingly.
It is the responsibility of the student to "do his/her best" to complete
the assignment according to the requirements.
It is the responsibility of the student to turn in his/her completed
work in the designated area assigned to that class for completed works.
Relationships of Respect
Students will be expected to show respect for everyone at all times. Students will show good manners, proper self-discipline, and consideration for others while in school. Procedures and guidelines as required in the Orange County/Maitland Middle School Code of Student Conduct will be observed.
Students wll maintain a proper work area while building relationships of respect wil all persons sharing the art studio space. All supplies and equipment should be returned to their proper place when finished using them. Work areas will be kept neat and clean after use by each student daily. Students will treat all equipment and supplies with proper care. Supplies, equipment and property will remain free from defacement and destruction.
Relevance of Attitude
Each student will enter this class with the "I will do my
best!" attitude. Art is fun and we all appreciate a happy, pleasant, and
helpful attitude on a daily basis. That is when we all can do "Our
best". Not every assignment will be your favorite, but keep a positive attitude and you will learn the relevance of the topic as it applies to you development in art education and meeting the state standards.

Grades
Students in this class will be graded in three categories; daily work,
studio performance, and project grades. I use a point system. Daily
work is based on the student's individual use of class time and
effort
in accomplishing the assignment. The art room is a studio for our
students as artists in training and will be expected to respect this
shared space. Studio performance is based on the student's
individual
efforts in maintaining a proper work area, and proper care of equipment
and supplies with respect for others and their property, as is essential
for successful completion of the assigned projects. Each of these two
categories is assigned a point value of 50 points per week. Project
grades are points assigned to the final works of art that are produced
by the student. The point value of each major assignment will vary from
100 to 300 points each with additional mini assignments of values up to
100 points each.
Supplies
Each year it seems the supply budget is even smaller. We would greatly
appreciate it, if each student could help out with some basic everyday
items for which our budget does not allow. Below is a list of those
items. Please, try to send what you can of them as soon as you
possible. Thank you for your support.
Rolls of paper towels
Bottle of liquid hand soap
White paper plates
Foam picnic plates
aluminum foil
Small kitchen sponge
Box of plastic straws, not flexible
Any kind of yarn
Old silk flowers or leaves that would have been thrown out
