• What was it like to be an Ancient Greek?

Introduction

Process

Begin by aquainting yourself with the maps of Greece.  In your interactive notebook answer the following question: What is the geography of Greece? What Seas surround Greece?

Athens or Sparta

Would you rather live in Athens or Sparta? Answer the following questions in your interactive notebook. Draw a double bubble map to compare/contrast Athens and Sparta.

Questions to address:

• What was the geography of the land like? What type of climate did the city-state have?
• Did the geography of the land influence their daily lives?
• What were their daily rituals: what types of foods did they eat, what kinds of jobs did they have, were all citizens treated equally, what did their homes look like?
• What was their government like, how were they ruled?
• Did they worship many Gods?
• What type of achievements did they have? Did they have any inventions to make their lives easier?
• What other facts are included about your city-state?

1. Watch a video about Athens - you will need to log in with the username of maitland1 and the password of hawks. Once you login, you will need to search for athens.  It actually will bring up four movies that you can watch.  You can also click on "full screen movie" to see a larger version.  It takes a few minutes to load.  You can take the pop quiz and view the timeline and activity.

Daily Life in Ancient Greece (Title of Tree Map)

• Make a tree map in your interactive notebook with at least five of the following categories: Education, Dress, Arts, Sports/Olympics, Philosphy/Philosphers, Science, Architecture, Entertainment, Math and Mythology. Make sure you list at least two items in each category. Use these websites to gather your information.
