Introduction

If you did nothing but learn all the meanings of math words, you would increase your math skills by a bunch! There are tons of math words to add to your vocabulary. In fact, if you had a dictionary of just math words, it would be at least as thick as your thumb! So, don't you think it's time to start learning some of these wonderful words?


The Task

Your teacher is in a jam. There is not enough time to get an important list of geometry definitions made. Because you are such a nice person, you offer to make the worksheet. Very cool.....

You will create the vocabulary list in Word  and print out a completely edited copy to hand in to your grateful teacher!


The Process

Here are the steps....

1.   Get a computer....

2.   Go to the Math Glossary website and find the meanings of the following 25 geometry words:

o        acute angle

o        area

o        axes

o        chord

o        circumference

o        hypotenuse

o        obtuse angle

o        perimeter

o        octagon

o        diameter

o        pi

o        Pythagorean theorem

o        right triangle

o        perpendicular lines

o        line

o        complementary angles

o        supplementary angles

o        pentagon

o        vertical angles

o        polygon

o        line segment

o        parallel lines

o        corresponding angles

o        similar figures

o        point

 

3.   Arrange the vocabulary words in alphabetical order....

4.   Open a word processing document in  Microsoft Word....

5.   Type the words and their definitions into the word processing document....

6.   Print the document or send it to HelmsL@ocps.net
