1. Visit this basic site to quiz yourself on the eight parts of speech. Select the drop down menu under Ask Grammar, quizzes, and search devices. Select 170+ Interactive Quizzes. Complete quizzes #7, #17, and #22. Go to noun #10 and prepositions #25 crossword puzzles. Complete each puzzle and print out a copy.
2. Help the gorillas learn their parts of speech by clicking on Grammar Gorilla. Play the grammar game at the top of the page. Print out your results.
3. Test your knowledge and memory by playing the matching game using the eight parts of speech. Click on a square and search the board to find the matching definition or word. Print out your results.
4. Visit the name game site and use your classmates to learn about the parts of speech. Choose five classmates and play this crazy game. Write out you results on a sheet of paper.
5. Create a madlib. Click on Hamlet's third soliloquy. Fill in the blanks with the appropriate part of speech. Remember to use proper language. Print out your madlib.
Learning the eight parts of speech can help you in your English class for the rest of your academic life. It will enhance your writing skills, reading comprehension and your public speaking.
1. Write a one page paper describing your experience using this WebQuest. Explain how this teaching method helped you learn more about the parts of speech. Tell about 2 or 3 of the web sites you visited and tell what you learned.
2. You have completed 5 activities on using the eight parts of speech. Now it is time for you to pass on your knowledge. Create five activities to help someone else learn about grammar. You can use the same type of games (matching, crossword puzzles, search and find) or create something new.
Once you have completed these last two activities, you have completed your web journey. Turn in your ALL assignments completed during this WebQuest. I'm sure you did a GREAT JOB!
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be able to list and define the EIGHT PARTS OF SPEECH. The learner will be able to identify the various parts of speech in a series of different text.
