On December 1, 2005, the Miami Herald published an article pertaining to state science standards.  The article stated that beginning in 2007, students would be required to pass the FCAT science test, along with the reading and math exams, in order to earn a standard diploma.  That information is inaccurate.  This same misinformation was also reported in a recent ASCD SmartBrief.

Science will count as part of the school grade in 2007, but the accountability decision has not yet been determined for FCAT Science.
